More than code — helping PinkSEO take shape
as a business from vision to reality.
"The best businesses are built by people who understand both the product and the market."
The Project
PinkSEO is an AI-powered SEO agency that blends cutting-edge technology with deep marketing expertise. The mission: make high-quality, data-driven SEO accessible to businesses that need it most — without the enterprise price tag.
My Involvement
I didn't just write code — I helped shape the business itself. From defining the service offering and pricing model to building the technical infrastructure that powers their AI-driven SEO workflows, I was involved across strategy, product, and engineering. It's the kind of end-to-end involvement that turns a concept into a company.
What We Built
- Automated content strategy and keyword research tools
- Client-facing dashboard with real-time performance metrics
- AI-driven site auditing and recommendation engine
- Scalable infrastructure ready for rapid client onboarding
Impact
PinkSEO went from idea to a fully operational agency with a growing client base. The blend of AI automation and human expertise gives them a unique edge in a crowded market — delivering results that traditional agencies simply can't match at the same speed or price point.
Building the Business, Not Just the Product
Most technical co-founders focus on the product. I focused on the business. That meant sitting in on client calls to understand what SMEs actually need from SEO — which is rarely more reports and almost always clearer action. It meant designing pricing tiers that made sense for a market segment that's been underserved by agencies chasing enterprise contracts. And it meant building internal tooling that let a small team punch well above its weight.
The insight was simple: small and medium businesses don't want to understand SEO. They want to rank, get leads, and grow. Everything we built — from the dashboard to the automated workflows — was designed to remove friction between intention and outcome.
The Technology Play
SEO is fundamentally a data problem — massive volumes of search data, competitor signals, and technical metrics that need to be collected, analysed, and turned into action. That's exactly where AI excels. We built pipelines that continuously monitor client sites, detect ranking shifts, and generate prioritised recommendations without human intervention.
Human-in-the-Loop
But automation alone isn't enough. SEO still requires creative judgment — content tone, brand voice, strategic positioning. The system we built handles the heavy lifting of data processing and pattern recognition, freeing the human team to focus on the creative and strategic work that actually moves the needle. It's augmentation, not replacement.
Lessons Learned
Building a business teaches you things that building software alone never can. I learned to think in terms of unit economics, customer lifetime value, and the compounding returns of operational efficiency. These aren't just business buzzwords — they're constraints that make you a better engineer, because they force you to build what matters and cut what doesn't.
"AI doesn't replace the strategist. It gives them superpowers."
Key Decisions
- Productised services over custom proposals — standardised offerings reduced sales friction and improved delivery consistency
- Automation-first operations — every repetitive task was a candidate for scripting, freeing the team for high-value work
- Transparent reporting — clients see exactly what's happening and why, building trust that reduces churn
- Lean infrastructure — serverless and managed services kept costs low while scaling with revenue
Where It's Headed
PinkSEO is proof that AI-powered agencies can outperform traditional ones on both cost and quality. As the tooling matures and the client base grows, the focus shifts from proving the model to scaling it — and that's a challenge I'm excited to keep solving.
